What would life be without music? The world would be a very quiet place. Music is in many ways the fabric of our lives and the definition of society. It is a reminder of how things once were, an indication of how things are, and a view of where society is headed.

Music is an important part of the child care curriculum also. Young children love sound. Music activities and experiences help children practice important skills, including thinking, language, motor coordination and understanding emotions.

Today, I got an opportunity to revive a few songs that can be taught for the children. Here is a list of songs that I found to be simple and easy to learn for the kids.(a combination of English and Hindi)

1. Aao jhulen hum aur tum by Preethi Sagar
2. When you are happy and you know it, clap your hands
3. Postman Pat
4. We've Got the Whole World in Our Hands
5. Five Hundred Miles by The Brothers Four
6. Do-Re-Mi song from the movie The sound of Music
7. Que Sera Sera by Doris Day
8. Why Can't We Be Friends from the movie Bridge to Terabithia
9. Gudiyalieruva shelegalle devarante ( Kannada song)
10. Nellie the Elephant

Sing your heart out! It is great to go back singing the usual songs which were favorites and gave immense pleasure.

Vishwa Shanti Ashram Vijaya Vittala Temple

The Vishwa Shanthi Ashram, Vijaya Vittala Temple is a peaceful and easy place to reach to get away from the hustle and bustle of namma Bengaluru.

Built in 1996, the Ashram has nine statues of the Hindu gods (Navagrahas) - Surya, Chandra, Budha, Shukra, Mangala, Guru, Shani, Rahu and Kethu. The giant Vishwa Roopa Vijaya Vittala statue made of black granite, stands outside the Ashram. This Ashram is situated in Nelamangala, on Tumkur Road. Wikimapia link

We found the place peaceful and a good getaway from the city. Very relaxing and a must see place. It is better to travel during early morning to avoid the traffic. We really enjoyed our visit.

If you are traveling from south Bangalore, it is a good idea to catch the newly build NICE road. It can cut your travel time to just 20 minutes (by car) from Kanakapura road to Nelamangala Cross near Jindal.

The Victor

I found this inspirational poem today.
It is written by the poet C.W.Longenecker.

The Victor
If you think you are beaten, you are.
If you think you dare not, you don’t
If you like to win but think you can’t,
It’s almost a cinch you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost.
For out in the world we find
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are.
You’ve got to think high to rise.
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win the prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But sooner or later, the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can.
